All your data including projects, patterns, and settings are stored locally on your device. Your knitting data belongs to you and stays on your device.
Global Yarn Stash Feature: To enable community features such as searching a global yarn stash and facilitating yarn sales between users, Knit&Calc may collect anonymized yarn stash information along with a device ID. This information is used to:
The collected data cannot be traced back to identify individual users. All communications about yarn sales are initiated and controlled by you. You are under no obligation to engage in any sales dialogue and have complete freedom to accept or decline any contact.
The Knit&Calc app does not collect usage statistics or analytics. The only data collected from the app is anonymized yarn stash information for the global yarn stash feature as described above.
Our website (knitandcalc.com) uses Google Analytics to understand website traffic and improve the website experience. This is separate from the app and only applies to website visitors.
When you add photos or PDF patterns to your projects, these files are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to these files. If you choose to export your data as a backup with images included, these files are encoded in Base64 format within the backup file for your convenience.
The app allows you to export your data as JSON backup files. These backups are created and stored locally on your device. You have full control over these files and can choose to share them between your own devices or keep them private.
We take the security of your data seriously. All data transmitted for the global yarn stash feature is anonymized and uses industry-standard encryption. Device IDs are used solely for abuse prevention and cannot be used to identify you personally.
You have full control over your data. You can choose whether to participate in the global yarn stash feature through the app settings. You may opt out at any time, which will remove your yarn stash information from the global database. You also have the right to request deletion of your anonymized data by contacting us.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
